In 2005 I began to document the building of a new highway in Guangxi Province. This section is in Yangshuo,famous for its magical karst mountains. In addition, I photographed another section of this provincial highway system that connects Nanning, the provincial capitol, and Vietnam. This ongoing project is documenting the development of what will be the world's largest highway system. China spends 45% of its GDP on infrastructure projects. Given these priorities, the financial success of these investments are critical to keeping China's economic miracle booming.
